CFPB 2025 Report on Complaints Received

On March 31, 2026, the CFPB issued its latest Consumer Response Annual Report that analyzes complaints submitted by consumers to the CFPB between January and December 2025. The CFPB reported that it sent more than 5.9 million complaints to more than 4,000 companies for review and response in 2025.

The CFPB monitors complaints to assess risk in consumer financial markets and to prioritize agency action. The report included the following observations:

  • The most-complained-about consumer financial product in 2025 was credit or consumer reporting, which accounted for 88% of those received;

  • Complaints about debt collection, credit cards, checking or savings accounts, and money transfers or services, virtual currencies made up a combined 11% of complaints received in 2025.
