CFPB Extends 1071 Rule Compliance Date

On June 18, 2025, the CFPB issued an interim final rule to extend the compliance dates for the small business lending rule and to make other date-related conforming adjustments. This adjustment is made in light of ongoing litigations concerning the final rule.

The new compliance dates will be as follows:

  • Highest volume lenders (Tier 1): July 1, 2026

  • Moderate volume lenders (Tier 2): January 1, 2027

  • Smallest volume lenders (Tier 3): October 1, 2027

The CFPB is also seeking comments on the interim final rule which will become effective on July 18, 2025.
