On September 16, 2025, Dr. Stephen I. Miran took the oath of office as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The oath was administered by Judge Elizabeth L. Branch of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Before joining the Board, Dr. Miran was chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President Trump and served as a senior adviser for economic policy at the U.S. Treasury from 2020 to 2021. He also worked as a senior strategist at Hudson Bay Capital Management and a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, bringing a decade of financial markets experience to his roles in government and policy.
President Trump nominated Dr. Miran and was confirmed by the Senate on September 15, 2025. His term as a member of the Board ends on January 31, 2026.
