On May 28, 2026, the OFAC updated its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List by removing sanctions on 76 outdated targets. According to its press release, the removals are part of Treasury’s ongoing sanctions modernization initiative.
The OFAC removed 76 outdated entries from the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List, including deceased individuals, decommissioned vessels, entities associated with defunct illicit financial networks, and individuals designated more than a decade ago who lacked sufficient identifying information and no longer appeared to pose an ongoing risk. The agency stated that each removal underwent an interagency review to confirm that it would not undermine U.S. national security or foreign policy interests.
