President Trump Nominates Kevin Warsh as Chair of the Federal Reserve

On January 30, 2026, President Donald Trump announced his nomination of Kevin Warsh to serve as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Mr. Warsh previously served as a member of the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, becoming the youngest individual to hold the position.

He holds degrees from Stanford University and Harvard Law School and has served in senior roles in both the public and private sectors. His prior experience includes work as an executive at Morgan Stanley and service as a senior economic advisor in the George W. Bush Administration. During his tenure as a member of the Federal Reserve’s Board, he was involved in the agency’s response to the 2008 financial crisis.
