On November 20, 2025, the America’s Credit Unions reported that President Donald Trump nominated Stuart Levenbach to fill CFPB Director position. If confirmed, Levenbach would step in for current CFPB Acting Director Russ Vought and replace former director Rohit Chopra.
Levenbach is currently an associate director at the Office of Management and Budget and previously worked at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). However, the report notes that the CFPB described the nomination as a “technical” step intended to allow Acting Director Vought to remain in charge of the agency.
A confirmation hearing date is yet to be scheduled.
