Welcome to the Compliance Cohort, where we offer quite a bit of free banking webinars. The Compliance Cohort is an online educational site where we provide free articles and short training videos (known as Compliance Clips) on all topics of regulatory compliance. Below, you will find a number of our free Compliance Clips (video webinars) on a variety of banking compliance topics. These training videos just a few of the recent resources our (free) members have access to. When you sign up for free membership, you can easily search for all of our free training videos (webinars) and articles on the “membership dashboard” page.
We have designed the Compliance Cohort as a resource for compliance professionals in banks, credit unions, mortgage companies, and any of the other trenches where compliance folks dwell. Specific to free banking webinars, there are a couple of things you should know. First, our Compliance Clips are designed to be short and easy-to-understand videos, typically 3-5 minutes in length. In making these quick and easy-to-understand webinar/videos, we have chosen to take a "virtual classroom" approach to our training where each video and webinar we publish includes both a visual of the instructor as well as slides that help lead you through the topic we are discussing. The idea is to bring the feel of a live seminar to your office or wherever you are at.
In addition to our free banking webinars (Compliance Clips), we have written many different comprehensive articles that go into great detail on all aspects of banking compliance. In writing these articles, we do our best to use simple to understand layman’s terms to explain some extremely complex and challenging topics. Our free membership allows members to search for and view our comprehensive (and free) articles.
Finally, our free membership includes links to a number of resources. like banking regulations. Our Banking Regulations List and Links page directs our members to the actual rules on most banking regulations. In addition to this, a weekly email summary of new articles and videos is sent to each free member and will generally include any new free resources we become aware of, such as free banking webinars (like those that are often hosted by the Federal Reserve or CFPB.

In this Compliance Clip (video), Adam covers a few best practices to use when conducting BSA training for the Board. As this is often something that is done on an annual basis, BSA training can be repetitive and directors can easily "check out" of the meeting and not have great retention - which defeats the purpose of the meeting. In this Compliance Clip (video), Adam talks about an amicus brief that the CFPB submitted to the courts regarding how Regulation Z applies to commercial loans. In particular, the opinion clarifies whether or not you can call a loan a “commercial loan” in order to exempt the loan from the requirements of Regulation Z. In this Compliance Clip (video), Adam explains the basics of an abusive act or practice. The abusive standard has been a moving target over the last decade or so, but the CFPB has finally given us guidance to help us understand the topic a bit better.

First, members will be automatically enrolled to receive regular email summaries. Provided once a week, these updates will ensure members are up-to-date on the happenings going on at the Compliance Cohort. Our goal is to help keep members in the know of our recent postings as well as any compliance changes that take place.
Our "Compliance Clips" have proven to be the best benefit of Basic Membership. These short, on-demand (free) bank training videos provide an amazing value to members as they are presented in a "virtual classroom" approach that provides bite-sized learning. Members find this approach significantly helps with comprehension of the material being taught. Typically lasting 3 to 5 minutes, we present applicable topics as we see fit, but generally include existing regulations as well as a "heads up" on upcoming changes. While a few Compliance Clips are available to non-members, Basic Membership provides access to many more videos than what are available to the public. Access to our Compliance Clips is often cited as the main reason for becoming a new member.
The third benefit of our Basic Membership is a number of member-only articles. These articles are presented in a "layman's terms" approach where we do our best explain complex rules in a way that anyone could understand. While some articles are available to the public through our blog, members enjoy a number of articles available only through membership.
