FDIC Requests Comments on AML/CFT Compliance Costs Survey

On September 12, 2025, the FDIC issued a notice and request for comment on a proposed information collection, a Survey of the Costs of AML/CFT Compliance. The survey seeks to gather information on the direct costs incurred by banks, savings associations, and credit unions in complying with the BSA/AML/CFT requirements, and the amount attributable to AML/CFT compliance that overlap with those of other activities such as fraud and credit monitoring.

The also survey aims to understand the financial impact of these regulations and will be used in creating plans to reduce regulations in line with the Executive Orders from the Trump administration. Comments are invited on:

  • Whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the FDIC's functions;

  • The accuracy of the estimates of the burden of the information collections;

  • Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and

  • Ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents.

Comments will be accepted until November 12, 2025.

The Notice can be found here.
